Dear Ms Alikhani,
I am currently a student at the City College of New York for computer engineering. In addition
to the communication and group work skills I have developed in its community, I have taken
courses in various coding languages including C++ and tasm assembly language. In these
courses I have developed through practice the ability to construct readable and complex
programs with practical use. I have also developed skills in managing and diagnosing various
components of computer hardware and have even gained some experience in managing electrical
circuitry. Lastly, I have learned about the dedication and motivation needed to pursue and excel
in an engineering career through my peers and the successful alumni who have presented at City
College.
My desire for this position goes deeper financial stability. Being the first engineer in my family
and one of the few in going to college, and after the hard work I put into having a successful
academic lifestyle since high school, this position is absolutely vital to the beginning of my
future goals and proving that my efforts up to this point were not in vain.
I want to make my family proud. As I mentioned earlier, I am the first in my family to go into a
field in engineering. Due to family issues I was put into foster care in 2005 and adopted by my
grandparents three years later. While I am not trying to sell you a sob story, my grandparents
worked so hard to give me a good life and a chance to succeed in my future. Making them proud
has been major influence in my academic career and will continue to be in my future occupation.
These parts of my life have direct impacts on my work ethic and personality. I very committed
and tenacious when given tasks. I am a great learner through experience, careful listener of
instructions, and I am not shy from doing extensive research when unsure. I am fond of
environments which challenge me and allow to me to improve myself, and I have been described
by my colleagues and instructors as fast learning, motivated, and very helpful and personable in
group environments.
Overall, my desire for this position is backed up by my desire to pay back my family and to not
let my academic efforts go to waste. This position would be an amazing goal for me and I
believe with my work qualifications, work ethic, and motivation that I would be perfect for it.
